Under limited supervision, assists mechanical engineers in the planning and testing of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
Tests complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions. Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies. Reviews project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan requirements fabrication, assembly and testing. Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data. Helps prepare proposals and cost estimates, work load to establish completion dates.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent experience. Two year college degree preferred. Typically requires at least 5 year experience.
Excellent oral and written communications skills. Expert knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Set up and test prototype HVAC units and sub-assemblies
1 or 2 year degree in HVAC and possess experience in testing and development of air conditioners and heat pumps, and/or
High school degree and at least 5 years field service HVAC experience with a working knowledge of heat transfer and air performance
Skill set requirements include EPA Certification for refrigerant handling
Excellent brazing skills, strong HVAC troubleshooting skills
Strong oral and written communications skills and solid computer skills in Microsoft Office.
Additional desired skills include working knowledge of AHRI 210-240, AHRI 340-360, UL-1995 and ISO 17025 standards
