Under general direction of RDC Operations Manager and Safety Manager NAD, develops, implements, and monitors programs that drive year-over-year increases in safety, ergonomics, productivity, and maintain highest environmental quality standards.
Involved in the layout of regional facilities, work areas and standard work procedures for distribution centers. Makes health, safety and environmental (HSE) recommendations accordingly. Develops methods to drive continuous improvement of HSE practices. Ensures compliance with all HSE regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the operation.
Full knowledge of health, safety, environmental and workers compensation best practices. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills that result in effective communications. Strong presentation skills to supervisor and co-workers. Knowledge of developing and implementing training programs. Proven success in driving continuous improvement in HSE. Lean and Six Sigma preferred. Experience using Apollo Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis; focus on reducing operational waste or similar robust problem solving tools preferred.
Other Responsibilities: Provides work leadership and performs manual and clerical duties related to the shipment and receipt of materials, supplies, equipment and finished goods.
Communicating with Operations Personnel, Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinatesproviding information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, presentation, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
Skilled at Microsoft Office.

Ability to introduce Lean teaching and thinking of visual control system.

Ability to gain certification and able to operate a fork-lift.
Ability to analyze effectiveness of safety systems or procedures.
Ability to recognize safe waste disposal procedures.
Have a good understanding of ergonomics and how to identify risk.
Conduct/Train and Audit
Responsible for prioritizing improvement initiatives and continuous improvement plans
Manages the introduction of tools and processes to support the Lean transformation, as a countermeasure to an identified problem.
Provides mechanism to measure, track, and report new Lean initiatives.
Supports the introduction of new processes to ensure sustainability.
Develops warehouse communication to manage internal and external communications relating to Lean.
Lead risk assessments to determine existing risk and prevent risk from entering.
Complete Equipment Removal and Return to Service requirements.
Complete safety inspections and complete required checklist.
Assist in developing and implementing safety programs in order to prevent and withstand unsafe conditions.
Maintain LOTO sheets.
Training and teaching others, identifying the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others, to include PowerLift Technique training.
Conduct New Hire Safety Orientations, and safety meetings, drive corrective actions resulting from health and safety audits to completion, schedule and oversee evacuation drills.
Perform environmental inspections, maintain action plan to completion.
Assist in completing Intelex incident reporting requirements and safety alerts as deemed necessary.
Drive employee engagement and increase awareness through programs such as the Handle With Care Safety Program.
Ensure required HSE records are maintained and filed appropriately – both digital and paper forms.
Assist in the auditing process of assigned LDCs.
Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires at least 5 years related experience
Prefer Bachelor’s degree in HSE, engineering or equivalent.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
May require forklift certification.
Warehouse operations experience in a WMS environment preferred.
Some Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities as listed above are required; all are desired.
