This is an outstanding opportunity to develop professional expertise and contribute to a product design team. As an engineering intern, the person in this position will work full-time for a defined period. Engineering interns are given the responsibility completing of their own 1-2 technical projects before they return to school, along with assisting fellow LII engineers and other interns on their projects in a team based environment to provide the greatest breadth and depth experience in HVAC product design for a summer period. Project work will typically include technical research of current design methods to achieve product specifications, brainstorming new and different ways to accomplish tasks with fixed or limited resources, creating and managing a project implementation schedule, tracking performance and business/ cost impacts of their project, and the creation of a formal presentation for management report out at the conclusion of the internship. Daily work is very hands on and emphasizes prototype creation in both computer modeling and physical samples to validate design concepts as well as closely monitoring laboratory testing and data acquisition in accordance to LII best practices and agency test standards. It is anticipated that successful execution of their internship will lead to significant career opportunities within the Lennox organization, either in full time employment or possible future internships in product design or manufacturing engineering, depending on student’s remaining years of education.
Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experiencealong with an enrollment in an ABET accredited B.S. engineering program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Developing professional knowledge in the area ofengineeringexpertise. Solid written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.Prefer candidates with a experience of completing technical based, challenging technical tasks and projects.
